In my Strategic Presentation class, I was tasked with creating a 30-second public service announcement advocating for a non-profit.

The nonprofit that we’ll be talking about in our public service announcement is the Embrace Kids Foundation. Embrace Kids is based out of the New Jersey/New York City metropolitan area and exists to lighten the burden, maintain normalcy, and improve the quality of life for families of children with cancer and other rare diseases. Rutgers University has partnered up with the Embrace Kids Foundation to raise money throughout the year. Fraternities and Sororities at Rutgers are especially involved, running philanthropy events at least bi-weekly throughout the school year. Perhaps one of the biggest fundraisers that Rutgers runs during the year is the Dance Marathon every spring. The Dance Marathon is the culmination of a student-run, year-long philanthropy project. During the marathon, some of the kids that the foundation supports will come to the event, dance, and have a good time with all of the groups that are involved with the Embrace Kids Foundation on campus. There are many other events throughout the year that help the foundation achieve its goals, but the culmination of a dance marathon shows that this organization is focused on its goals and knows how to achieve them.

To produce the 30-seconds of audio, I first had to find a background song that I could use without stealing anyone's property. I found Kirk Osamayo's "Underwhelmed" and decided that would be perfect. I then took the first 5 seconds from the song and the 5 seconds between 25-30:00 and added them to the main track. I put the fade-out effect on the first five seconds and the fade-in effect on the second part of the song that I added to the track. Next, I recorded my audio advocating for the Embrace Kids Foundation and placed it on the track in between the two music parts and exported the file to soundcloud.
